Fight Night 2009: Sponsorship Information
Our 3rd Annual Fight Night is an amateur boxing tournament that generated an audience of over 2,000 students last year. Fight Night and its contestants, UK fraternity men, are USA Boxing approved and insured. All of the proceeds from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House of the Bluegrass and Huntsman Cancer Institute.

In the fall of 2008, Fight Night raised over $35,000. This year our goal is to raise $60,000, to continue to increase our gift to the Ronald McDonald House and the Huntsman Cancer Institute. After the first year, this event was voted “Best Intra-Greek Programming Assembly Event on Campus”. We are excited to be holding the event at the Lexington Convention Center downtown and hope that this new location will bring even more spectators than previous years.

Any type of donation would be greatly appreciated by our chapters. Fight Night is a wonderful opportunity for your organization to generate publicity among college students and the Lexington community. If you would like a detailed list of the sponsorship packages we have to offer, please don't hesistate to contact me.

Thank you so much for taking interest in our event and I look forward to talking with you soon.

The Ronald McDonald House

In 1979, Alpha Delta Pi committed to the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) as its international philanthropy.  Since that year, Alpha Delta Pi has contributed over $2 million to RMHC.  The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home-away-from-home" for the families of seriously ill children who are receiving treatment in nearby hospitals.  There are 245 Ronald McDonald Houses in 28 countries, and the Beta Psi Chapter at UK is fortunate enough to have a RMH on campus.  The families at the UK Ronald McDonald House stay while their children receive treatment at the UK Children's Hospital.  Beta Psi members volunteer each week in various ways, such as making and serving meals, playing bingo and board games, and even planting flowers.

RMH Christmas     Beta Psi members not only donate many hours to the RMHC, but this past year they worked diligently to put on the 2nd annual Fight Night with Sigma Chi Fraternity. The event took place on November 13th and 14th at Lexington’s own, Tattersall’s, on South Broadway Road. In the year 2007, Fight Night was voted “Best Inter-Greek Programming Assembly Event on Campus.” This year, over 2,000 people attended the event on both nights.

Fight Night is an amateur boxing tournament between men of all fraternities here at the University of Kentucky. Thanks to the UK Boxing team, the boxers were provided with personal coaches and boxing lessons. The UK boxing team also supplied medical staff, equipment, referees, and all other preparation for the event. The reigning champion from last year’s tournament, Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, was again awarded the highly coveted Fight Night trophy belt.

Fraternity men weren’t the only ones participating at the event. Sororities were able to compete for a 5-foot trophy based on points from the “Fight Night Sorority Competition” where they were judged on spirit, creativity, and attendance at the event. The sororities also got a chance to earn points before the event by collecting pop-tabs for the Ronald McDonald House. Chi Omega prevailed in the sorority competition and took home the trophy.  Alpha Delta Pi’s own dancers took the stage (or the ring!) on the second night of the event and performed a number of dances dance to a medley of fight songs which received many praises for spicing up the event.

This year, Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Chi Fraternity, thanks to our generous sponsors, donators and the many ticket sales, raised over $40,000 for the event. From the proceeds, $13,020 will go towards the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Bluegrass, and will be enough to sponsor 5 rooms at the RMHC. Sigma Chi will be able to donate $11,000 to benefit Huntsman Cancer Institute. The tournament was a huge success, and is expected to increase attendance at next year’s event and raise even more money for these two charities!

Thank you to all of our sponsors: Newtown Crossing, Raising Canes, Instant Signs, LA Boxing, University of Kentucky Student Government, University Charters, Osram Sylvania, Mad Mushroom Pizza, Shelbyville Physical Therapy and Spine Care Center, Kontor International, IPA-IBA, US Smokeless Tobacco Co, Bourbon ‘N Toulouse, Robbins Heating and Air Conditioning Co., Schardein Mechanical Contractors,  Mueller Brothers Property, RCP Reality, IPA and Company, TSP Holdings, The Two Kates, Sherman Riggs and Nathan Riggs Attorneys-at-Law, B-Leasing, Old Bridge Inc, and Issac Commericial Properties.

More than the Ronald McDonald House...

 Erin as the dot

Beta Psi contributes to the efforts of other greek chapters as well by participating in their philanthropy events, such as "Greek Sing" with Chi Omega/Sigma Alpha Epsilon, and "Kapasta" with Kappa Kappa Gamma.    Beta Psi members support UK philanthropy events, including DanceBlue and UK FUSION, as team leaders and volunteers.  Individual members are committed to service as well.  Many volunteer with the Student Volunteer Center and even with other organizations not related to the university.  Service is an essential part of the development of Greek women at UK, and Beta Psi members are committed to making a difference in the Lexington community.
