| Recruitment is just around the corner! |
|
Dear Beta Psi family,
It is almost time for Formal Recruitment 2010! As Beta Psi prepares for the exciting two weeks of Spirit Week and Formal Recruitment, we'd like to encourage any alumnae who know of girls coming through University of Kentucky Formal Recruitment to write a reference form. We value our alumnae support and recommendation in this process and appreciate the time you put into writing a reference for a girl whom you believe would be a great Alpha Delta Pi. To do so, please find our "Recruitment" tab for more information, dates and the reference form itself! For current parents and families of Beta Psi sisters, we invite you to our Recruitment Preview night on Thursday, August 12 for a glimpse into the entertainment that will be performed throughout the week of Formal Recruitment! Preview night will begin at approximately 7 p.m. and will conclude around 9 p.m. For any questions about anything recruitment related, reference forms or Spirit or Formal Recruitment Week, please feel free to email me at khvandeventer@uky.edu.
To potential new members,
We are thrilled that you are taking interest in the Greek community here at the University of Kentucky. The Greek community serves as a home away from home for many girls here on campus and we're excited for you to experience that with us. Along with the hype of recruitment, Greek life will provide leadership growth, new opportunities and a set of friends that you'll have for a lifetime. Best of luck this fall and remember that no matter which house you decide to join at the end of the week, the sisters of Alpha Delta Pi can only hope that you have the fond experience in your next four years that we have had so far here at the University of Kentucky! Go cats!
Loyally,
Kelsey Vandeventer
Formal Recruitment Chair 2010

Dear Beta Psi Family,
This February, 15 officers and 5 advisors from the Beta Psi chapter traveled to Knoxville, Tennessee for the annual Alpha Delta Pi District II Leadership Conference. Officers were able to gain knowledge and insight from Alpha Delta Pi leaders across the district, and learn of new ideas and resources they can use in their positions. Those who attended DLC returned home with great pride for our outstanding chapter.
“Alpha Delta Pi: On the Right Track” was the theme for this year’s convention. Year after year, Beta Psi officers lead competitive, passionate groups of women down the right track. Officers for the 2010 calendar year are determined to do the same. Our 188 intelligent and enthusiastic members make this task possible. On behalf of all officers, we can not wait to show what great things we have in store for this year!
A special thank you to all of our dedicated advisors!
Loyally,
Katie Herndon

| Update: January 25, 2010 |
Dear Beta Psi Family,
We are so sorry to announce that this year’s Fight Night philanthropy event has been cancelled. After much hard work, our chapter was unable to meet regulations of the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Association and we were not granted a sanction for the event. This created safety issues for our boxers and we did not want to put them in danger.
Fight Night will continue in the future. Our philanthropy team is working with the men of Sigma Chi fraternity to improve the event for years to come. Restructuring and early planning will guarantee completion and continuity for next year’s event. We believe it will be a great event and stronger than before. This year Beta Psi raised around $14,000 for The Ronald McDonald House!
We would like to give a special thank you to those of you who supported our event.

| Update: October 1, 2009 |
Dear Beta Psi family,
Wow! I can’t believe that it is already October 1. The weather in Lexington has definitely shown us that fall is here as it has been in the low 60's each day. This week our chapter has been busy participating in UK's Greek Week, with events that both fraternities and sororities are encouraged to attend. Greek Week provides many activities and contests that both challenge and unite the Greek Community on our campus!
This week is also busy for our chapter as Diamond Days 2009 have been going on and will conclude with Initiation on Friday night. Diamond Days started with our Blue and White Ceremony on Wednesday which the entire chapter attends. The Blue and White Ceremony highlights the generations of ADPi and the importance of our new, current and alumnae members. The next ceremony, held on Thursday, was our Black Diamond Ceremony which is just for our new members and their big sisters. The last and final phase of Diamond Days is Initiation. As a junior, I look back on my Initiation and am so excited to welcome 55 new women into Beta Psi. Every member of our chapter is involved in Initiation as it is a special event in the life of an Alpha Delta Pi.
As the fall semester is almost to the midterm, I'd like to highlight some important dates. During next week (Oct. 5 & 6) our Composite Pictures will be taken. This process takes place at the ADPi house and all members are expected to come to the house to have their photo taken! Throughout October, the chapter will be having many different fundraising events that lead up to our main philanthropy event, “Fight Night”. Our 3rd Annual Fight Night is an amateur boxing tournament that generated an audience of over 2,000 students last year. Fight Night and its contestants, UK fraternity men, are USA Boxing approved and insured. All of the proceeds from the event will go to the Ronald McDonald House of the Bluegrass and the Huntsman Cancer Institute (which is the philanthropy of our paired-host fraternity, Sigma Chi). All fundraising money is due to the ADPi house on October 26, 2009 where each member will be expected to have raised a minimum of $100 for the event! If interested in donating, you may send a check to Alpha Delta Pi/ Sigma Chi Fight Night 2009 Attn: Meghan Darst, 476 Rose Street, Lexington, KY 40508.
As November approaches, we will be preparing for Parents’ Weekend 2009 which takes place both with the University and ADPi on November 6-8, 2009. Please look forward to more information in the upcoming weeks on events and times for that weekend.
Loyally,
Kelsey Vandeventer |

Sisters! I hope everyone survived finals week and had a great semester. Congratulations, again, to all of our graduating seniors! You looked awesome posing in your gowns and we wish you all the best! If you are continuing to live in the Lexington or surrounding areas, please feel free to visit anytime. As all of you join the ranks of ADPi Beta Psi alumnae, remember to visit the Alumnae page on this website to keep your address current.
To all Deltas... Be on the look out over the summer for a packet of information regarding Spirit Week, Recruitment 2009 and information about move-in instructions for those of us living in the house. If your summer or home address has recently changed, please email me at ukadpi@gmail.com to ensure your receipt of the info!
Also, if you find pictures you'd like to add to the collection for Recruitment feel free to email them to ukadpi@gmail.com. All pictures will be taken into consideration, however, not all will be used as there is only so much time. If you aren't sure if you've emailed pictures or not, send me a note and I will check for you!
Other than that, be safe and enjoy a relaxing summer! See you all in the fall!
Loyally,
Kelsey
